Support Resources
ECU has many support resources in place to help you be successful. Please be familiar with the following resources and take advantage as needed. This is not an exhaustive list of support resources at ECU, these are some of the common resources we see students use from the advising perspective.
Advising and Academic Support Resources
Academic Advising – General academic advising website for information on the various centers, majors, registration, and other resources. Your student will be assigned an academic advisor for their major and should direct questions to their assigned advisor.
Academic Advising Checklist – Helpful checklist of to-dos from academic advising. This page also includes links to the admitted student checklists.
Academic Catalogs – Information about degree requirements, academic regulations, university policies, and course descriptions.
Career Services – ECU Career Services can help your student in planning their career, deciding on a major, help finding a job or internship, etc. In addition to being able to meet with a career counselor, they have a lot of great tools on their website for your student to use and explore.
Computer Labs – Search for labs on campus and filter by specific software needed
ECU Testing Center – The ECU testing center administers national college and academic program entrance exams. They also provide proctoring services and administer credentialing, licensure and certification exams.
Libraries – Services and resources to help your student in their research efforts, study sessions and other educational activities.
Pirate Academic Success Center – Offers academic support through a variety of services (tutoring, academic skills coaching, success coaching, etc.) to help your student.
Registrar – See the registrars page for information on ordering transcripts, registering for classes, degree works, enrollment verification and more.
Speech Communication Center – Works with students to help improve speeches, presentations, interpersonal and professional skills.
Tech Support – Help with IT questions, set ups, connectivity, downloads and more.
Study Abroad – Learn about various study abroad program types, fees, and application process.
Undergraduate Research – The Office of Undergraduate Research is here to help you along your research journey. Undergraduate research empowers students to contribute knowledge, innovation, and promote critical thinking.
University Writing Center – Offers support for you student with their written work.
Calendars
ECU does not have one calendar listing every upcoming event or important date. You will need to visit the specific office and/or college website of interest to view their upcoming events. However, here are three of the most important calendars you should look at leading up to every semester:
Academic Calendars – Has the most up-to-date information about when classes start, class registration, the drop/add period, and breaks.
Important Billing Dates – You will find information on deadlines, schedule cancellations, and payment instructions.
Refund Period – You will find information on the refund period and the percentage of refund that would be given based on the date of the semester.
Financial Resources/Support
Cashier’s Office – Information on tuition and fees, payment, and important financial dates (schedule cancellations, refund period, etc.).
ECU First Day – ECU First Day is a program that lowers the cost of course materials and ensures undergraduate students have their required course materials on the first day of class.
Financial Aid – Provides education, guidance, and support to students and families throughout the financial aid process.
Scholarships – Provide students and their families with information on both ECU and external scholarship opportunities.
Williams-Ross Purple Pantry – The mission of the ECU Williams-Ross Purple Pantry is to decrease food insecurity among the students of East Carolina University and increase access to other personal care items.
Healthy Living
Campus Recreation & Wellness – Campus Recreation & Wellness (CRW) strives to promote learning how to maintain healthy lifestyles while getting the most out of the college experience.
Counseling Center – The ECU Counseling Center offers many services to help enhance personal growth. Please also see their self-help page.
Disability Support Services – The mission of the Department for Disability Support Services is to provide individuals with disabilities support that will enable them to access programs, services, facilities, and activities of the university and to enhance disability awareness among all constituents of the university.
Mental Health Apps – List of various mental health apps focusing on anxiety, depression, relaxation, wellness, etc.
On-Campus Pregnant and Parenting Resources – ECU offers supportive childcare options to help eligible student parents balance their academic and parenting responsibilities. This page also includes some local community resources.
Student Health Services – SHS specializes in the well-being of ECU students by offering affordable, convenient, and high quality services.
Safety
ECU Alert – ECU Alert is a collection of communication tools the university uses to distribute emergency notification and information.
ECU Police – ECU Police Department’s mission is to cultivate a safe learning environment through quality campus community outreach/education. The ECU Police Department seeks to reduce or eliminate crime through the delivery of professional law enforcement services and programs.

LiveSafe App– The LiveSafe app provides students, faculty and staff with a direct connection to campus safety so that everyone can easily communicate all their safety needs. Its easy-to-use features help you stay safe every day and enable us to better protect you.
Student & Campus Life/Support
Campus Housing – Campus Living exists to provide quality housing services to ECU students and support their quest for academic and personal success. If you are transitioning to off-campus housing, see link in list below.
Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement – The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement provides opportunities for the campus community to learn, serve and lead with our community as active citizens and advocates for positive social change.
Center for Student Success – Through the collaboration and coordination of resources and services, the Center for Student Success supports student needs outside of the classroom and serve as a bridge and point of contact to Academic Affairs initiatives.
Dean of Students – Serves as a liaison between students, parents, faculty, university staff and administrators to: assist with individual or group crisis; navigate campus procedures; and serve as an advocate for students, when needed.
Dining Services & Meal Plans – Provides details about Meal Plans, help navigating dining options, or meet with a campus Dietitian.
Dowdy Student Stores – The Dowdy Student Store features textbooks, course materials, computers and software at an educational discount, school and art supplies, technology and accessories, Pirate clothing and merchandise.
Ledonia Wright Cultural Center – The Ledonia Wright Cultural Center leads with vision, compassion, ethics, transparency, and always puts students first. They stay current with student development theory and cultural center best practices and develop tools to measure student involvement through the Center and its impact on student retention and persistence.
LGBTQ Center – As part of the Department of Student Engagement within Student Life at ECU, the Dr. Jesse R. Peel LGBTQ Center works in conjunction with our colleagues in the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center, the Military & Veterans Resource Center, Student Activities and Organizations, and the Women and Gender Center to support student success at ECU.
Off-Campus Student Services – Introduction to the resources and assistance the University, and the surrounding communities provide as you transition off-campus.
Student Employment – East Carolina University (ECU) offers several types of student employment opportunities designed to support academic success, provide meaningful work experience, and promote financial well-being.
The Pirate Experience – The official campus community platform at ECU. You can find events, groups, news, etc.
Transportation
ECU Transit – View the fall service bus schedule and information on ECU Ride van service.
Great Bus System – GREAT is owned and operated by the City of Greenville as the Transit Division of the Public Works Department. GREAT Buses operate out of the G.K. Butterfield Transportation Center (600 South Pitt Street). GREAT provides transportation throughout Greenville, NC.
Parking & Transportation – Provides guidance and assistance to the campus community and visitors on all parking-related issues. You can find information on permits, parking maps and parking rules at this site.
Pitt Greenville Airport (PGV) – Pitt–Greenville Airport is a public airport located two miles north of the central business district of Greenville, North Carolina, and East Carolina University.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) – RDU is an international airport and is the second-largest airport in the state. It is 95 miles away from ECU.
Veteran Support
Military & Veterans Resource Center – Make the Military & Veterans Resource Center your home at ECU, where our goal is to enhance and support the lives of veterans, military personnel, their families, and our community.
Veteran Benefits Office – This office can provide guidance to you with military tuition assistance, GI Bill, and Military Residency options.
